Dance Dress Code

Students must be properly attired in full uniform for every class.

Hair:

Must be pulled up off the face in a secure ballet bun using hair net & hairpins, bangs must be pulled back off the face with either a headband or barrettes. Hip Hop students may wear a secure ponytail.

KinderDance:

Fitted black tank leotard/bodysuit* (no attached skirts), convertible or footless tights (colour closest to dancer's skin tone), bare feet.

Ballet:

Fitted black tank leotard/bodysuit, convertible or full-foot tights (colour closest to dancer's skin tone), Capezio Hanami ballet shoes (colour closest to dancer's skin tone).

Jazz, Musical Theatre**:

Fitted black tank leotard/bodysuit, convertible or full-foot tights (colour closest to dancer's skin tone), black Capezio EJ2 jazz shoes. Competitive Team members require shoes in black as well as skin tone.

Tap**:

Fitted black tank leotard/bodysuit, convertible or full-foot tights (colour closest to dancer's skin tone), black Capezio #443 tap shoes (competitive dancers please see teacher for shoe requirements).

Acro, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary**:

Fitted black cotton tank leotard/bodysuit, convertible or full-foot tights (colour closest to dancer's skin tone), bare feet.

**Students who are self-conscious may wear plain ALL black (no colour bands or decoration of any sort) fitted dance shorts (inseam no longer than 2 inches) over their bodysuits & tights (except Ballet classes). For injury prevention reasons, pants of any sort are not permitted, except for Hip-Hop. Pants do not allow teachers to clearly see, and check for: correct alignment of the pelvis, hips, back & legs or proper tracking of the knee.

Hip Hop:

Fitted black tank leotard/bodysuit, black jazz pants or leggings, black hip hop shoes (competitive dancers please see teacher for shoe requirements).

Boys (All Classes):

Plain white or black t-shirt, black shorts or track pants and appropriate shoes (as noted above) in black.

Jewellery:

Watches & jewellery may not be worn. Please leave all jewellery and valuables at home. Please do not pierce your child's ears after the March Break as earrings are not permitted for dance photos and the recital unless required as a part of a costume.

Dance Bags:

A small dance bag, any style, large enough to fit shoes & hair supplies (brush & spare elastics, hairnets & hairpins) with student's name on it (in case it is misplaced) is required.

Supplies:

For your convenience, all required dance & music supplies may be purchased at the Academy Shop.
